Transforming the lives of two million displacement-affected children and youth

Introduction

Together for Wellbeing 2030 (TfW30) is a four-year initiative led by the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) aimed at empowering two million children and youth affected by displacement. Through building a global network of implementers and partners, the initiative seeks to enhance their wellbeing and learning outcomes by providing effective and sustainable psychosocial and educational support.

TfW30 focuses on three pillars - Empower | Effective | Reach

  • Empowering displacement-affected children and youth by providing sustainable psychosocial support in education. Advocating for their rights and needs, ensuring long-term programme viability, quality implementation, and adaptability to different contexts.

  • Driving innovation in psychosocial support in education through continuous, evidence-based research. Utilising data and insights gained from global partnerships to enhance programme effectiveness and address emerging needs in displacement-affected child and youth support.

  • Build and strengthen a global network of partners, leveraging technology to enhance service delivery and reach. With a particular focus on knowledge sharing, awareness raising, and collective efforts to improve the wellbeing and educational outcomes of displacement-affected children and youth worldwide.

Introducing NRC’s Better Learning Programme (BLP)

To empower two million displacement-affected children and youth, we are utilising our flagship classroom-based psychosocial support intervention, the Better Learning Programme (BLP). For over a decade, the BLP has helped children recover from the traumatic events they experience during crisis and displacement. The BLP is flexible and adaptable, allowing us to quickly implement it in any emergency or under-resourced setting.

We continuously enhance the BLP with the latest research, field insights, and best practices through our long-standing collaboration with the Arctic University of Norway (UiT) to ensure the programme remains responsive to the needs of the communities we serve.

To meet the increasing demand for psychosocial support (PSS), NRC is transitioning to the TfW30 initiative. This expansion will provide children and youth with high-quality PSS in educational settings by equipping implementers with essential tools and resources. To ensure quality, uphold the Do No Harm principle, and promote local ownership, NRC will adopt a White Label Approach, allowing partners to adapt and rebrand the BLP for their contexts while maintaining its core integrity.

Starting in the first quarter of 2025, the BLP resources, guidance, and materials will be accessible online via the BLP digital platform, making implementation easier for partners and Ministries of Education in participating countries.
